Above is a handy chart for Aspect Ratios and some of their basic Video Resolutions. Below we’ll discuss our most in-demand resolutions for advertising.
Linear TV Ads
The typical resolution for distributing a broadcast spot is 1920 x 1080, which is an HD resolution. Over the years, we’ve been delivering less 1280 x 720 HD spots and even less 720 x 576 SD spots as TV screens get larger and larger.
OTT Streaming Ads
Over-the-top or OTT ads are streamed through the Internet using a device like Roku or a Connected TV/CTV. We’re increasingly delivering these at 1920 x 1080.
Online Video Ads
Due to the nature of online video and the varying desktop, tablet, and mobile phone sizes – there can be a need for a variety of resolutions, but that’s not the case for every video campaign. Usually 1280 x 720 or 1920 x 1080 resolution suffices, however a variety of 16:9 resolutions may be needed for placements on websites and articles.
Social Media Ads
The above generally stay in the 16:9 ratio, but social media ads throw in a few more options. Our most popular social media resolutions are:
-
- 1920 x 1080
- 1080 x 1080 (1:1)
- 1080 x 1920 (9:16)
- 1080 x 1350 (4:5)
- And we can’t forget Twitter – who has a long list of wacky resolutions for video ads on social media, but we commonly deliver at 1280 x 720
This is by no means a complete list, and we’d be thrilled to discuss which resolutions may work best for your project.
